Reports: Detroit Lions Fire Jim Schwartz

In the sixth head coaching firing over the past 24 hours around the NFL, the Detroit Lions have sent Jim Schwartz packing.

Largely known prior to this season for taking Detroit to the playoffs with a 10-6 record just a few short years after it finished without a win, 2013 has been nothing more than a dumpster fire for the Lions. Seemingly locked into the NFC North title after injuries to Jay Cutler in Chicago and Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, the Lions failed to capitalized.

After starting the season 6-3, Detroit lost six of its final seven and completely crapped away a playoff spot. Issues remained for Schwartz throughout his tenure as it repeatedly lacked accountability both on and off the field. Once things started to take a turn this season, he wasn’t able to lead the Lions out of their struggles. This pretty much sealed his fate in Detroit.

Schwartz finishes his five-year tenure in Detroit with a 29-51 record.
