Should The Packers Shut Down Rodgers?

There is little hope for the Green Bay Packers making the playoffs after a 40-10 embarrassment on Thanksgiving against the Lions. The Packers who started out the season 5-2 and seemed like they were in full control of their destiny haven’t won a game since. They now sit at 5-6-1 and in third place in their division. The Packers must win out if they have any chance at the playoffs.

The question on everyone’s mind in Wisconsin is when will Aaron Rodgers play? He might be able to suit up against the Atlanta Falcons on December 8th but it is more likely that it will be against the Cowboys on December 15th. However, if the Packers lose to the Falcons next Sunday should A-Rod play again this year.

We all know that Rodgers competitiveness  won’t make it very easy for McCarthy to convince him to do so. If they lose any of their last four games the season could be over. Unfortunately for the Packers, Detroit only has one game left on their schedule against a team with a winning record.

The best option here is for the Packers to rest Rodgers to avoid a worse injury and just live to fight another day.
