Week 8 Fantasy Sleepers
Are you struggling with match-up decisions or dealing with an injury-depleted roster? Here are my sleeper picks worthy of starting for your team this week.
BYE: Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Indianapolis, San Diego, Tennesee
Panthers vs Buccaneers: Panthers D/ST; Let’s consider the facts: No Doug Martin with a rookie quarterback who seemingly targets only one receiver, facing the No. 1-ranked defense against quarterbacks on a shortened week? Yes, please.
Bills vs Saints: Marques Colston; Let’s consider the facts again: There’s a possibility that Jimmy Graham may miss Week 8, the Saints are coming off an embarrassing loss and a bye week, and Drew Brees gets to air it out at home against the 31st-ranked pass defense. I’ll buy Colston snapping out of his funk.
Browns vs Chiefs: Anthony Fasano; He was on the field for 91% of the Chiefs’ offensive snaps and nearly had 2 TDs for the day. Beyond Jamaal Charles, Fasano is the next best option in the red zone for Alex Smith going against a Browns defense that’s been forgiving to TEs over the past two games.
Cowboys vs Lions: Terrance Williams; Tony Romo hasn’t had a great past two weeks but I expect him to air it out plenty against Detroit’s porous secondary; as long as Dez Bryant continues to see double coverage, Williams should be able to continue his TD streak.
49ers vs Jaguars: Colin Kaepernick; Because Jacksonville cures everything.
Dolphins vs Patriots: Lamar Miller; You’re worried about the re-emerging timeshare between Miller and Daniel Thomas, but seeing how the Patriots have now given up 380 yards since Vince Wilfork’s injury, I’m inclined the believe the Dolphins aren’t stupid and Miller will return to being the better RB of the pair.
Giants vs Eagles: Rueben Randle; Breaking news: Peyton Hillis is slow, and the Eagles aren’t terrible against the run. It’s a mess of a match-up, and while Randle may be the reason for most of Eli Manning’s interceptions, he’s also been the most productive Giants WR over the past three weeks, facing the league’s worst pass defense.
Jets vs Bengals: Geno Smith; Smith’s fantasy numbers have consistently alternated meaning he’s due for a poor week. But facing a banged-up Bengals secondary, this week should be the aberration for the rookie gunslinger before he returns to schedule next week against New Orleans.
Steelers vs Raiders: Terrelle Pryor; Rather than bore you with another Heath Miller recommendation, I’ll take Pryor coming off his bye and throwing off Pittsburgh’s normally fantastic pass defense with his legs.
Redskins vs Broncos: Jordan Reed; It goes without saying that Washington’s defense is terrible and going against Peyton Manning? RGIII is going to have to throw A LOT and I expect Reed to build off last week’s breakout success.
Falcons vs Cardinals: Michael Floyd; Larry Fitzgerald may not be 100% and Atlanta’s secondary is terrible, ranked 29th in the league. Otherwise, just another mess of a match-up.
Packers vs Vikings: Jarrett Boykin; Without James Jones and Jermichael Finley, Boykin figures to see plenty of targets from Aaron Rodgers playing against the Vikings pass defense; I see one more week of solid production.
Seahawks vs Rams: Zac Stacy; Honestly, the Rams’ only hope for anything.
Always remember: Start your studs, play the match-ups, and don’t be afraid to make the trade!
