Jim Irsay and Peyton Manning both wish the Colts a bit of Luck

The owner of the Indianapolis Colts, Jim Irsay, revealed to USA Today in a recent interview that Peyton Manning while he was still a member of the team had told him, “You’ve got to take Andrew. You have to. You’re crazy if you don’t.”

Irsay listened, parted ways with Manning, and drafted Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Peyton Manning then picked up his bags and took a hike, a mile-high one at that. Now in his second year with the Denver Broncos, the team has assembled one of the greatest offenses in the history of the national football league. This is providing Peyton with his opportunity to put a Championship stamp on the final chapter of his already phenomenal resume.

Only 31 teams stand in the way, but Peyton should have no doubt that 31 teams cannot stop him because… well, he has already beaten 31 NFL teams. The only problem is that there are 32 teams in the NFL, and the one team he has yet to defeat is not his own but his former.

This Sunday night gives Manning the opportunity to change that when, for the first time since he has been in the NFL, he will be walking into Lucas Oil Stadium as the enemy.

Jim Irsay spoke about how he will be happy to see Peyton reconnect with his former teammates, literally. Irsay jumped on twitter just after midnight Wednesday morning and had this to say

Irsay is hopeful that veteran safety Antoine Bethea will be up to the task of not only stopping the #1 offense in the NFL, but forcing turnovers. Wishing is always fun Irsay, but don’t test your Luck against Manning.
