Colts Player Waived, Practice Squad Moves, And Trade Update

Trade Update: The Dallas Cowboys to traded one undisclosed 2015 draft pick to the Indianapolis Colts for LB Caesar Rayford. Rayford quickly became a preseason fan favorite after recording impressive stats which could have helped the Colts in the regular season. However, Rayford seemed to be better in a 4-3 defense due to the fact that he wasn’t good as a complete linebacker. For example, Rayford seemed to be a liability in the run game and even in coverage. Overall it was a good fit for Rayford.

Boyett Waived: The Colts waived injured safety John Boyett after Boyett was arrested early Monday morning. This is Boyett’s second arrest this year and it seemed that Boyett will not be picked up by any team due to his injury. Sad to see a potential player ruins his career due to off-field issues.

Trade Update: The Colts traded for San Francisco 49er LB Cam Johnson yesterday and he fits in the 3-4 scheme in Pagano’s defense. Johnson shined in the preseason by recording 3 sacks and 8 combine tackles. Let’s see if that production carries to the preseason.

Practice squad moves: RB Kerwynn Williams was signed to the practice squad. TE Dominque Jones was placed in the 53-man roster with the Rayford trade and TE Justice Cunningham was signed to the practice squad. As of right now, the Colts have 4 TE in the active roster. According to Adam Schefter, former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers was signed to the practice squad yesterday.
