Green Bay Packers Reportedly Sign Quarterback Vince Young

As was first indicated last night, Vince Young was set to work out with the Green Bay Packers at some point today. Apparently said workout went extremely well, as multiple reports indicate that Green Bay has signed the embattled veteran to a one-year contract.’s Ian Rapoport filed the following report on Twitter moments ago:

Vince Young has signed his deal with the Packers. He has a quarterback meeting tonight and is planning to attend.

For Young, it’s a chance to catch on with a contending team and sit behind one of the true professionals in the football world in the form of Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay, who had been said to be interested in bringing in a veteran, was impressed enough to give the enigmatic Young an opportunity to earn the No. 2 job. Apparently Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy aren’t too sold on Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman as viable No. 2 options at this point.

This signing could also indicate that Green Bay wants to get some prep in against the read option, as it will be facing Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III early on during the regular season.
