According to sources, the San Francisco 49ers plan on signing cornerback Eric Wright should his medicals check out later this week.
“Very interested” is a common theme that continues to get thrown around.
The 49ers are actively looking into his medicals and he only wants to play for the 49ers,
The source indicated.
This makes sense, especially after Kevin Lynch of The San Francisco Chronicle tweeted out that the 49ers “will meet with doctors about his status.”
If you remember correctly, San Francisco had acquired Wright in a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month before it was voided due to a failed physical.
Now that third-year cornerback Chris Culliver is on the shelf for the entire 2013 season, San Francisco might be feeling more pressure to bring in Wright. It doesn’t hurt that signing him outright wouldn’t require a draft pick and could probably be done near the veteran minimum.
