The fans of the New England Patriots have spoken and they are not waiting to see if former tight end Aaron Hernandez is found innocent or not.
The Patriots offered a free jersey exchange on July 6 and 7 and any jersey of Hernandez may be traded for a free one of equal or lesser value. This move could conceivably cost the team hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The Patriots decided that if Hernandez was arrested in any way in the murder of Odin Lloyd that they’d cut him and all ties with him. And they did just that, less than an hour after Hernandez was taken into custody, the team cut him and removed all items of his from the team’s Pro-Shop. Now they’re taking the unprecedented step in exchanging all of his jerseys. And Patriots fans have lined up nearly halfway around the stadium from the entrance to the Pro-Shop to the players parking lot in 90 degree temps to do an exchange. Receipts aren’t required but jerseys must be authentic NFL merchandise.
The Patriots Pro-Shop is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 7.
