Preview: Top 2014 Underclassmen Centers

We’ve finished previewing our top 2014 Seniors at each position. We now look into the Draft Eligible Underclassmen at the Center position. When you look at this group, the first thing that pops out is experience. Six of the prospects on this list have 20+ career starts at the center position for their offenses’; Grasu, Finney, Vitable, Dismukes, Espinosa, and Waterman. Bodine will be the man in front of one of the Top 2014 Senior QB Prospects, Bryn Renner, for the second straight season. Grasu has been the leader of the eye popping Oregon Ducks offense and offensive line for the past two seasons. Vitabile and Northwesterns’ offensive line allowed the fewest sacks of all the teams in the Big Ten and will look to continue his success in 2013.

  • Russell Bodine North Carolina; Returning starter from 2012. Recorded 74.5 knockdowns in 2012. 6-4 310 lbs. Junior.
  • David Andrews Georgia; Started 14 games in 2012. 6-2 295 lbs. Junior. Part of an offense that scored a school single season record in points (529). 6-2 295 lbs. Junior.
  • Hroniss Grasu Oregon; First Team All-PAC 12 selection in 2012. Two year starter as the Center for the Ducks. Key part to one of the top offenses in the country during 2012. 6-3 295 lbs. Junior.
  • B.J. Finney Kansas State; Honorable Mention All-Big 12 selection in 2012. Has 25 career starts as the Center for the the Wildcats. 6-3 305 lbs. Junior.
  • Brandon Vitabile Northwestern; Academic All-Big 10 selection in 2012. Has 26 career starts as the Center for the Wildcats. Part of an offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks in the Big Ten. 6-3 300 lbs. Junior.
  • Reese Dismukes Auburn; Has 23 career starts as the Center for the Tigers. 6-2 292 lbs. Junior.
  • Dominic Espinosa Texas; Has 26 career starts as the Center for the Longhorns. Part of an offensive line that allowed only 16 sacks in 2012. 6-4 300 lbs. Junior.
  • Shane McDermott Miami; Honorable Mention All-ACC selection in 2012. Started all 12 games in 2012. 6-4 296 lbs. Junior.
  • Robert Waterman UNLV; Honorable Mention All-MWC selection in 2012. Has 25 career starts as the Center for Rebels. Allowed just one sack in 2012. 6-2 290 lbs. Junior.
  • Andy Gallik Boston College; Has 15 career starts as the Center for the Eagles. 6-3 306 lbs. Junior.
  • Travis Jackson Michigan State; Academic All-Big 10 selection in 2012. Has 15 career starts at the Center for the Spartans. 6-3 280 lbs. Junior.
