The number one criteria for me when I rank RBs is touches. With the exception of maybe Darren Sproles, running backs who touch the ball more have more fantasy value. It is no question that Steven Jackson is a better player than Rashard Mendenhall, but I would rather have Rashard Mendenhall (if healthy) on my fantasy team. Why? Mendenhall will shoulder the load in Arizona whereas Steven Jackson will likely split touches in Atlanta.
More RB to select just based on their workload alone:
Alfred Morris WAS
Maurice Jones-Drew JAX
Frank Gore SF
These are the upper-echelon RB that get a large workload, and will be top 10 fantasy RB in 2013-14, but others will have a large workload and could be “sleepers” this season. Here are some of them:
Vick Ballard IND
Lamar Miller MIA
Stevan Ridley NE
