In need of another top 10 wide receiver, the Lions have a visit scheduled with Darrius Heyward-Bay on Wednesday. Heyward-Bey was drafted 7th overall by the Raiders. He caught a career-high 64 passes for 975 yards last year for the Raiders. He averaged nearly 15 yards per catch in his four years in Oakland.
Last season Calvin Johnson broke Jerry Rice’s single-season receiving record. However the Lions have injury concerns and lack other deep threats in their receiving corps. Nate Burleson (broken leg) and Ryan Broyles (torn ACL) are coming off season-ending injuries, and midseason trade acquisition Mike Thomas are all considered slot receivers.
