Detroit kept another one of their own today. The Lions resign Safety Louis Delmas to a 2 year deal. He reportedly will earn $9.465 million over two years, and join recently signed Houston Texans Glover Quin in Detroit’s backfield this season.
The Lions appear set in the defensive backfield at this point unless they feel another Veteran CB is needed. Last Aprils draft the Lions drafted two CBs that appear to have what it takes to compete at the NFL level.
The Lions drafted CBs Bill Bentely and Jonte Green. Bentley stepped in and earned a starting spot opposite Chris Houston until he was injured. Green was terrible in the preseason, he was on the practice squad learning the craft when injuries forced him into a starting role at the end of the season. He stepped up and played excellent so the Lions are going to stick with him for another year hoping he continues to improve.
The Lions now need a starting Left Tackle to fill the hole that Jeff Backus opened up by retiring with one year left on his contract after 12 seasons.
