Coach Doug Marrone moved very quickly in finding his first hire and he didn’t have to go very far. Reports have come out that Marrone has hired Nathaniel Hackett as the next Offensive Coordinator for the Bills. Marrone is very familiarly with Hackett, being that he was the offensive coordinator at Syracuse University.

Hackett runs the K-Gun style of offense; this should be intimately familiar for Bills fans. It is the same style of offense that Jim Kelly and the Bills ran in the 90’s. Kelly had handed over the K-Gun playbook over to Hackett when he was the Bills offensive quality control man from 2008-09.

Hackett’s agent tweeted on Tuesday night “The Bills just made a GREAT OC
Hire! Very innovative coach…the K-Gun is back in Buffalo!” The offense is
expected to be up-tempo which could translate to a lot of scoring drives with
the right personnel. Marrone can now focus on hiring a defensive coordinator
with “Thorough NFL experience”.
