Finnegan Will Get Paid

Cortland Finnegan will get a new address. That’s because his home is for sale. He could stay with the Titans. It looks more likely that he will be changing teams as well. The Titans and Finnegan are not close to a deal. The two sides weren’t even talking until recently. They will have a meeting later on at the combine workouts.
The Tennessee Titans made him an offer before last season of four years and $28 million. The two sides are very far apart. The Titans may not want to write those big checks to Finnegan because he was their 7th round pick in 2006.

Cortland Finnegan

Finnegan is looking for a deal better than the five-year, $48.75 million contract cornerback Johnathan Joseph signed with the Texans last July. His contract included $23.5 million in guarantees. He would like to be one of the highest paid corner backs in the NFL.

Remember the Titans are the same team that made Steve McNair go away. They also gave up on Vince young. They also had to have their arms twisted to pay star running back Chris Johnson. The Titans don’t have an issues parting with players.

The Rams and Lions will both be interested because of their head coaches. Remember Jeff Fischer was the head coach in Tennessee that drafted him and Jim Schwartz was the Defensive coordinator. Both teams would like to add a corner. They may try the draft instead.

The other NFL teams interested Finnegan. There are a few. Usually players get huge contracts within their own division. The Indianapolis Colts will have a lot of extra cash around if they move forward without Peyton Manning. The Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots are looking to upgrade their defensive backfields.
