Burress Indicted On Gun Charges

Former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on gun charges Monday, while former teammate Antonio Pierce was cleared of any wrongdoing. According to the district attorney’s office, Burress was indicted on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree — both felonies — and one count of second-degree reckless endangerment — a misdemeanor. If convicted on a weapons charge, the former Super Bowl hero could face at least 3 1/2 years in prison. Last November, Burress shot himself in the thigh with a gun at a Manhattan night club. A Florida permit for the weapon had expired. Burress remains free on $100,000 bail.
