Delaware Legalizes Sports Betting

This week, Delaware will become the fourth state in the country to legalize sports betting, joining the likes Nevada, Oregon, and Montana. On Wednesday, the state’s Congress voted on Governor Jack Markell’s proposal to implement the Delaware Sports Lottery, which allows the state to handle parlay betting from its citizens.  Markell was pleased when he heard the news and told ESPN that “It’s time to move forward and ensure the Delaware Sports Lottery is a success. This will generate critical revenue to help fund our core commitments…. I am very pleased the Senate acted so quickly.”  The move is expected to generate $50 million next year in new tax revenues, which will go toward addressing the state’s $800 million deficit.
