Jason Peters Signs New Deal With Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Friday night that they have agreed to a new six-year contract with Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters after acquiring him via a trade earlier Friday from the Buffalo Bills. Peters passed a physical earlier today at the Eagles’ training complex, and team officials worked quickly to strike a deal with Peters’ agent, Eugene Parker. Peters was under contract through 2010 under his previous Buffalo deal, but the Eagles have basically removed the final two years of his old deal. Contract terms weren’t immediately available on a agreement that has Peters under contract to Philadelphia through 2014.“Jason Peters is the best left tackle in football,” Eagles coach Andy Reid said in a statement. “He is a powerful and athletic tackle and I have admired his play over the last few years on film. “I have always believed that success in the National Football League is derived from the strong play of the offensive and defensive lines. This offseason we have added two young, top-flight offensive linemen in Jason and Stacy Andrews.”
