Vernon Set To Carey The Load

By PFC Writer Ricky Bartle

One down for the Miami Dolphins. A day after announcing the franchise tag would not be applied to right tackle Vernon Carey, the Miami Dolphins have come to terms on a 6 year 42 million dollar deal with Carey, according to the Miami Herald. The Dolphins had thought strongly about applying the franchise tag to Carey but remained confident that a deal could be reached. The Dolphins valued Carey as an offensive lineman, but not at the one year price that a franchise tag would cost them. The Dolphins have been in constant contact with all their potential free agents and are glad to keep the Miami native at home for the next six seasons.
