Jets Release David Barrett

Jets G.M. Mike Tannenbaum announced that the team released past Pro Football Central Radio guest, cornerback David Barrett on Tuesday afternoon. Barrett had one year at $3.71 million remaining on the contract he signed with the team as a free agent in 2004, an exorbinant amount for a player who was only a full-time starter in his first year with the club. In his five years with the Jets, Barrett started 37 games and intercepted 12 passes. He had one interception in 2008, which he returned for a touchdown against the Chargers.
