Report: Raiders To Name Cable Head Coach

The Oakland Raiders have hired Tom Cable as their head coach for the 2009 season, according to ESPN’s Michael Smith. The Raiders reportedly informed the other candidates Tuesday of their decision to go with Cable. A second source also told Smith the Raiders have settled on Cable as their head coach. ESPN reached Raiders senior executive John Herrera who denied that the club had decided on Cable as their coach. Cable served as the interim head coach last sesaon after the team fired Lane Kiffin. Under Cable, the Raiders won three of their last six games including their final two.
