Coughlin Refused To Say Burress Was Reason For Slide

Michael Eisen, of Giants.com, reports New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin refused to use the absence of WR Plaxico Burress as a reason for the team’s offensive struggles late in the year. The Giants scored just 52 points in their final four losses. “I think our team rose above that,” Coughlin said. “It all happened on the Washington weekend and we played very well in a very emotional setting down there. There is a drain, there is no doubt about it, but our guys have been good about rising above those kinds of things. We don’t want distractions. Don’t get me wrong, distractions are not good for a team, they are not, unless they are created by the head coach.”
