Shanahan Rebuffs Jets in Search for Coach, N.Y. Daily News Says

Mike Shanahan, fired as head coach of the Denver Broncos, isn’t ready to talk to the New York Jets about replacing Eric Mangini, the New York Daily News reported.The two-time Super Bowl champion coach is on vacation for the next two weeks and won’t do any job interviews until he returns, the Daily News said, citing Shanahan’s interview with NFL Network.Even when he returns, Shanahan is unlikely to seek a job with the Jets if they won’t give him control over the personnel like he had with Denver, the newspaper said, citing an unidentified person familiar with the search.The Jets interviewed offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and offensive line coach Bill Callahan today. New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will talk to the team tomorrow, and Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan will discuss the Jets’ job after Baltimore finishes the playoff season.
