Whitner Out Indefinitely

The Associated Press reports Buffalo Bills S Donte Whitner (shoulder) is out indefinitely with a separated right shoulder. Head coach Dick Jauron said Monday, Nov. 3, he would only list Whitner as out on a week-to-week basis, while noting the injury was “fairly significant.”

A. Smith Underwent Surgery Thursday

Matt Barrows, of the Sacramento Bee, reports San Francisco 49ers QB Alex D. Smith (shoulder) underwent surgery Thursday, Oct. 30, to remove a small piece of bone from his throwing shoulder. Dr. James Andrews performed the latest procedure. The procedure was considered relatively minor and is not expected to affect the mechanics of Smith’s right arm.

Brooking Fined For Week 8 Hit

D. Orlando Ledbetter, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons LB Keith Brooking was fined $5,000 for a hit on Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb in Week 8. There was no penalty on the play and Brooking said he hit McNabb in the shoulder.

Culpepper Will Likely Start Week 10 Game

John Niyo, of The Detroit News, reports Detroit Lions QB Daunte Culpepper will likely start the team’s Week 10 game.
