Favre Admits Talking To Lions

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports New York Jets QB Brett Favre admitted talking to former Detroit Lions general manager Matt Millen before the Lions played the Green Bay Packers in Week 2. Favre said Millen called him during his half-hour drive home from the Jets facility, presumably to return a call about going hunting. However, Favre also talked with Millen about the Packers, and that everything he discussed was pretty basic information, most of it based on the games he played against them last year. Favre also suspected Millen might have put him on a speakerphone so that some coaches could hear what he had to say.

Holmgren Vague On Future After Seattle

Clare Farnsworth, of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, reports Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren has not ruled out a return to coaching after a one-year sabbatical. “When I say there’s a possibility of coming back, I’m not eliminating anything,” he said. “Because I don’t know how I’m going to react.” Holmgren has been touted by the media as a future head coach of the San Francisco 49ers because of his ties to the area.

Croyle To Be Placed On IR

Adam Teicher, of The Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs plan to place QB Brodie Croyle (knee) on the Injured Reserve, and he will undergo season-ending surgery to repair torn knee ligaments.

Champ To Miss 4-6 Weeks

NFL Network reports Denver Broncos CB Champ Bailey (groin) is expected to miss four to six weeks after suffering a groin injury in Week 7.

Chiefs Intends To Pick QB In 2009 Draft

Clark Judge, of CBSSports.com, reports the Kansas City Chiefs intend to draft a quarterback in the 2009 NFL Draft because of the injury history of QB Brodie Croyle. “We’ve got to move on,” head coach Herman Edwards said. “We can’t juggle the ball again. It’s holding the whole football team up if we do, and he knows that. I spoke to him, and he knows what the situation is now.”

Troupe Placed On IR

Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports the Oakland Raiders have placed TE Ben Troupe (foot) on Injured Reserve, ending his 2008 season.
