Kevin Acee, of The San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers LB Shawne Merriman (knee) will still have to undergo reconstructive surgery on his torn posterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament at some point. The Chargers advised Merriman to undergo surgery after last season, but he declined because he did not want to sit out until October or November. He has already played five games in the past, sometimes limited, with both injuries.
