Team Knew Chris Williams Had Herniated Disc When They Picked Him

August 24th, 2008 · No Comments

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears OT Chris Williams (back) said he had a herniated disc before getting drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round. Williams added, “We knew that. Everyone knew that. It just was a thing where most people it doesn’t affect. It wasn’t affecting me so if nothing is broke, you don’t fix it. Then something happened in practice that second day, the disc started moving and that caused some problems.” Williams first learned he had a herniated disc “probably three, four years ago. I’ve known for a long time.” Williams is ahead of schedule in his bid to return for the second half of the season. The stitches were removed Thursday, Aug. 21, and he has started exercising.
