With the release of Shaun Alexander (2005 MVP), will the additions of RB Julius Jones, FB T.J. Duckett, former pro bowl LG Mike Wahle, and new offensive line coach Mike Solari (Kansas City Chiefs) be enough to keep the Hawks on top of the NFC West once again?
Look for the Hawks to rotate Julius Jones and Maurice Morris to handle most of the load, except in short yardage situations. That’s when T.J. Duckett, Leonard Weaver, or rookie Owen Schmitt (WVU 5th Round) will step in. 3 power rushers to get that short yardage that they couldn’t seem to get last year.
The Hawks running game was stagnant last year because of not completing short yardage situations; this year should bring a change. They have the quickness and power to put up a solid running game, there offensive line has only matured, plus they added in former pro bowler Mike Wahle to the mix.
With the running game alive and well in Seattle this year, look for the Hawks to stay on top of the NFC West once again. If they stay healthy they should be contenders for the NFC Championship in Head Coach Mike Holmgren’s last year.
