Merriman Won’t Rush Decision

August 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers LB Shawne Merriman (knee) will not rush to make a decision on what to do regarding his injured knee. Merriman is deciding among three main options. He can resume practicing and begin the season on time, opt to have minor surgery that would keep him out a short while or undergo reconstructive surgery that would end his 2008 season. Merriman has identified the significant problem in his left knee as being a tear in the posterior cruciate ligament. The main issues with a PCL tear are pain, swelling and instability. The team believes Merriman is healthy enough to start the season.
