My first impressions for this years team. They have the talent to go all the way. I know I’ll have people tell me I’m nuts. Let me give you my opinion as to why I think that way. This years club has some questions and I can agree. They are as follows, Quarterback issues, followed by a running back who has issues. Then we dropped the most explosive receiver we had. Then people think we just didn’t do enough to improve our offensive line. As daunting a task this might seem, I’m telling you the Bears are improved.
The quarterback problem is not a problem, only in the national media is it a problem. The last I looked the national media don’t own the Chicago bear franchise. If they stuck to reporting instead of trying to be coaches Chicago might get a better feel from other fans around the country. Our quarterbacks are no worse then the rest, and that is the truth. Not every team gets a Tom Brady. You know there are many young quarterbacks in our league and none have gotten the scrutiny that Rex Grossman has gotten. Whether you like him or not, that is the truth. If you put Rex Grossman an a practice field with any of the other young qb’s he would probably beat them out. He has the arm to do it. What he lacks is discipline. I know at this stage he aught to be past all what we consider routine play. His problem was the national media really got to him, if you believe otherwise well then their is an issue. Hopefully this year the media will let him play with out all of the national attention.
Our quarterback position is really a stronger then most people give us credit for. There are not many teams that have 2 qb’s that have won most of the games they played working for the starting spot. Think about it! If we did start with another rookie we truly would not be looking to go anywhere. Surely not into the playoffs.Rookies usually take a couple of years to get used to the speed of the pro game, and defenses.Orton or Grossman that is our dilemma, and we should let them fight it out fairly this preseason. I think would like to think that by the 3 rd preseason game one of the qb’s showed more then the other. Then make him the man and let the starting unit play the 3rd and 4th game to gel. They both are coming in this season with one year contracts and this alone should make the very best come out of both of them. Personally I think we are much further ahead then most clubs are.
If the Chicago Bears can remain relatively healthy they can go as far as they want to.
