Bengals Turning Down Offers For Chad Johnson

April 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

The Bengals turned down a trade offer from the Washington Redskins for receiver Chad Johnson that could have netted Cincinnati two first-round picks, according to a report on ESPN.com that cites team and league sources.  Washington reportedly offered the No. 21 pick in this year’s draft and a conditional third-round pick in 2009 that could have risen to a first-round pick if Johnson and the Redskins met performance milestones. Johnson had expressed discontent with the Bengals all offseason, and he demanded a trade last week. Several times this offseason Johnson has waffled between wanting to be traded and being open to staying with Cincinnati. Johnson, who had 1,440 yards receiving and eight touchdowns in 2008, was the fourth highest paid receiver in the NFL last season.
