Jaguars Ink Garrard To Long Term Deal

April 7th, 2008 · No Comments

The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to a six-year contract extension with starting quarterback David Garrard that will pay him close to $60 million over six years.  League sources said the deal includes $9 million in signing bonus money and $20 million in guaranteed money. That is under the $28.5 million in guaranteed money that the Dallas Cowboys gave to Tony Romo last year on his contract extension. There had been talk that Garrard wanted Romo money.  Garrard is coming off his first full season as a starter, leading the Jaguars to a playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers before they fell to the New England Patriots in the divisional round.  Garrard was entering the final year of his contract, which is why the Jaguars wanted to try and get the deal done.
