Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson (broken ankle) is expected to be ready before training camp. A February report indicated Benson may lose a step after needing a plate inserted to hold his ankle bone together. The Bears say they haven’t considered cutting Benson.

The agent for Browns OL LeCharles Bentley says his client is doing “phenomenal” in his recovery from multiple knee surgeries. The Browns let Bentley work out on his own in Arizona rather than report to Berea for their offseason conditioning program.  Bentley, who reworked his contract in the winter, will vie for a roster spot.
