Here are the Pros and Cons on Michigan State wide receiver Devin Thomas.
ProsUnlike several top receivers in this draft class, Devin Thomas has the build of a wideout. He is a very quick wideout who has solid hands and will do whatever he can to make the catch. Thomas is also the kind of receiver who will take a big hit to hold onto the ball which really isn’t coachable and will do his best to stay up after contact for those extra yards. In the NFL, Thomas will definately take advantage of the smaller corners due to his size at 6′2. One other thing that Thomas was very good at in college that really doesn’t get enough press was the fact that he was a good blocker in college. He also could be a very good punt/ kick returner at the pro level.
ConsOne of the biggest knock’s on Thomas, is that he has only had one productive year in college football. To make it in the NFL, you will have to be a good deep threat and Thomas really hasn’t showed any signs that he can be a valuable down the field threat. When the ball was passed to Thomas down the field, it seemed like he tryed to hard to make the catch which caused him to drop it. Another thing Thomas needs to do is to head upfield after the catch instead of dancing around.
