We all know the big names that will enter this years NFL draft but do we know the sleeper picks? PFC draft reporter Jonathon Zenk highlights the top sleepers in this years draft.
Five Sleepers For the Draft
1. Josh Johnson, QB, San Diego
I love this kid. He is amazingly athletic and can throw very well on the move as well as kill you on the ground. He is a natural born leader and is as tough as nails. He reminds me a little bit of Michael Vick minus the dog fighting. He would be a great fit for a West Coast offense team, like the Green Bay Packers in the third or fourth round.
2. Xavier Omon, RB, Northwest Missouri State
Omon rushed for over 7,000 yards and 92 touchdowns in college. I know he didn’t play DI, but that should not take away from the accomplishment. He can run between the tackles very well and can bounce it outside if he needs to. He may not be taken in the fist five or six rounds, but some team may find a gem in this kid in the later rounds.
3. Kevin Robinson, WR, Utah State
Robinson is a very good returner, but as a receiver is also a good target. He has good hands and is a solid all-around athlete. He gains separation away from defensive backs by using his good quickness. Just like Johnson, this kid is also extremely tough, earning every yard he gets. His return game will certainly get him drafted, but don’t be surprised if he does well as a receiver in the NFL.
4. Joey Haynos, TE, Maryland
Haynos is a monster at 6′8″ 260 pounds. This kid has progressed in each year while at Maryland. He catches everything with his hands and doesn’t let the ball come to his body. The team that drafts him will need to be patient with him, He will need to work to become a better blocker and pass catcher, but he definitely has the physical skills to do that.
5. Nick Hayden, DT, Wisconsin
He is a master at stuffing the run. He has a good motor and chases down plays from behind. Hayden played well in the Shrine Game, snuffing out plays. He plays with good leverage and technique. He could be a solid player for whoever drafts him in the fifth or sixth round.
